My First “ME” Suit
OK, so I’ve owned a suit before. Problem was, I owned a boring suit. I’ve been a victim of the Ann Taylor “look”. Nothing says fresh out of college like an Ann Taylor suit. It just wasn’t me. Its never felt right. It felt like I was dressing for who I was supposed to be instead of for who I really was. I avoided wearing a suit like I avoided the common cold.
Now at 32, I’m craving some sophistication in my life. I’m refining my personal style and I want to appear smarter and sharper without compromising my sensuous and natural nature. I’m so loving this cobalt blue set from Victoria’s Secret. It’s such a beautiful vivid blue. I’ve tried my hand at a cobalt blue blouse which I tend to receive tons of compliments on, so I know this suit and its color will do me justice.
Wardrobe Categories
The other day I wrote about going through a Style Refresh and how I emptied my closet of items that no longer fit my personality, my lifestyle and my interests. It’s now time to make some smart choices of how I want to rebuild my wardrobe.
The first group of my wardrobe I’m refilling is what I call my FIRST IMPRESSION CATEGORY. As an entrepreneur, part of my lifestyle involves networking meetings, public speaking events, media appearances, and one-on-one presentations to colleagues and prospective clients. This group will include clothes that I feel secure and confident in. They fit like a dream, are of good quality and are current, modern and up to date. My investment pieces have to look good dependably and work together interchangeably.
